Josh Young until recently has been wowing audiences in Stratford, La Jolla California, and on Broadway as Judas in Des McAnuff's revival of "Jesus Christ Superstar." Young's incredible portray of Judas earned him his first Tony award nomination. "Still Dreaming of Paradise" follows Young's self titled debut album. This is an album that showcases Young's incredible vocal range and his ability to master songs from the canon of traditional musical theatre to the new. Andrew Lloyd Webber fans will be dazzled by his renditions of "Memory," from Cats and "Heaven on Their Minds" from his powerful Jesus Christ Superstar, but Stratford audiences learned of Young first from his portrayal of Che in Evita. Young gives us a haunting interpretation of "High Flying Adored." A musical not yet well known is "Amazing Grace" and Josh gives us a hint of the amazing nature of that production in his delightful, spirited "Heaven Bound." His ongoing collaborations with Brian Lowdermilk and Kait Kerrigan are featured in his humourous and yet poignant triubute to early love "It's not a Love Story" and the rich "The Man that I Could be." And then there is "The Rainbow Connection," one of the best versions of this song ever recorded. Every song on this album tells a great story, from a master interpreter of song. Every note on key, timing perfect. This is a wonderful album.
